About me
I graduated from the University of Victoria in December 2008 with a post-degree B. Ed. (Elementary Education). I also have previous degrees in Biology (B.Sc.) and Business (MBA).
During my B.Ed. program I completed teaching internships at the Nagoya International School (Grade 4) and Crystal View Elementary School (Grade 4/5).
I am presently a substitute teacher for School District 62 (Sooke/Langford/Colwood) in British Columbia, Canada. My teaching specialties are K-7 (all subjects), Math 8-11, Science 8-10 and Biology 11-12.
Literacy and numeracy are my passions. I am actively involved in professional development courses and district workshops, in addition to carrying out self-directed studies in these areas.
My previous work experience has been in the fields of management and information technology consulting. I am a certified rock climbing instructor and presently teach adults and children at two indoor climbing facilities in Victoria.

Results-oriented, relationship-based
I tutor a variety of subjects, primarily Math at the high school, middle and elementary levels, and literacy (reading/writing) instruction at the elementary level. I have particular experience with struggling Math students and implementing interventions to avoid failing the term.
I seek to establish friendly, respectful and supportive relationships with students, and work towards helping them become invested in the goals that we set. Knowing that parents and teachers care deeply about the child's progress, I employ a tutoring approach that engages all stakeholders in the process of helping a student become successful.
